Racetrim's race plot
Here's a sneak peak at what I'm working on today.
Everyone know how a "race plot" works? I think these are one of the best visualizations to tell the story of a race. I'm working on getting a minimum race plot up for every session that runs on racetrim servers for the top 10 cars on the lead lap. Any more than that and they get a bit messy, but I plan to expand the interactivity to allow seeing the analysis broken down for everyone, or specific cars.
What these visualizations show is relative pace as compared to the average sector times of the race's winner. The resulting plot can let you see how cars were pulling away, catching up, or falling behind. When the lines cross, that is an overtake or change in position.
